The LeftyBlogs button

We've now got a little button to add to your blog. It's not required or anything, but it's nifty and cute. (OK, maybe not cute, but nifty.)

Here's the code to make it happen on your site. Just copy and paste:

Alternately, if those little blog buttons make you crazy (like certain people we know - you know who you are) then consider using a mini version of our masthead.

Here's the code for that graphic:

And now, by popular demand, an even smaller graphic:

Here's the code for that graphic:

I just inserted your button, it is at the bottom of my opening page. Is this OK?

Could we have a more narrow graphic for those of us who use sidebars that are not as wide as the one you offer?

I would like to see the larger logo in a narrower version. With text something like:

LEFTY BLOGS
Taking back America
in ALL 50 States

Posted by Doug Wiken on August 17, 2005 09:14 AM

It should show up at the bottom:

Thank you for starting this site. I just put the logo on my blog and added mine to your list. There are very few of us progressives blogging here in Arkansas, trying to change this country (and even the world) into a better, more peaceful and compassionate place to live for everyone. I would love to see that list GROW!!!!!

How do we report a blog that is on the list, yet is conservative?

Posted by Mike on August 24, 2005 09:02 AM

Mike - just post it here.

Posted by Kari Chisholm on August 24, 2005 06:50 PM

Just for the record, I see that the listing you have for The Political Dogfight does not show the number of posts on the blog. That could because my feed through Feedburner doesn't report them.

But for the record, The Political Dogfight, (Once called Dogfight04 in the middle of the 04 campaign)has 307 posts today.

Thanks for putting it on your list.

Your readers comments from the post you made August 5 about the CA-48th were off the mark as we have a strong Dem Candidate that will take the Party endorsement on Wednesday, already has the Grassroots endorsements of the two largest Grassroots organizations in SoCal and has the Hackett Campaign Team onboard to run the Campaign. Steve Young is in this thing to win.

With Gilchrist splitting the vote and Campbell with enough money to buy the R nomination it is tailor made for a Democrat with the right presentation and passion to get the crossover vote and the all the Dem vote. Remember Kerry got 42% in this District with only a 27% Dem registration.

CA-48 is fiscally conservative but socially moderate.

Thanks again for the time and effort.

Is there an RSS feed per state that is available on other sites? I maintain the site for the Lake Erie Alliance for Democracy. We are using CivicSpace 0.8.1.3, which can display RSS feeds from other sites, like Common Dreams. I see that you have an RSS feed for leftyblogs.com, but how would we go about being able to read an RSS feed from this site of just Pennsylvania content?

Posted by Michael Mahler on September 5, 2005 09:01 PM

Michael -- Nope, there isn't. We're working on new features, including outbound RSS feeds.

Posted by Kari Chisholm on September 5, 2005 09:05 PM

Karl,

Is there any way to get the RSS link for one of the blogs you host?

I can't figure out what Alliance For A Better California's RSS link is. It isn't posted on their site, but clearly, since you link to them, it exists.

Posted by Rob Thorne on September 7, 2005 11:30 AM

Thanks to for the link to our site, we just added you to our Links Page.

All the Best,

John

You indicated above that conservative blogs that are listed on your site can be reported here.

Well, HacknFlak.blogspot.com is a conservative blog. One of its contributors is conservative Republican Assemblyman Chuck DeVore from California. Other contributors are taking very conservative positions on the state propositions. I hope you take them off yor list.

All rightie, so I'm supposed to copy and paste the following, but to what? I'm assuming it's somewhere in the template, but I'd sure hate to paste it somewhere, forget where I pasted it and screw the whole site (it's been ongoing, daily, for the four months!

I would like to echo the request for the larger gif to be ever so slightly smaller. I run a blogger site with a 240 sidebar. This guy looks to be ever so slightly too large

Posted by Andrew C. White on January 10, 2006 08:50 PM

OK, Andrew, you've got your niftier smaller graphic - only 200 pixels wide!

Posted by Kari Chisholm on January 10, 2006 09:32 PM

I do not know how to put this little button into blogspot. I do not know how to use HTML. can somebody please explain this to me in english?

Jeff

Jeffrey... We can't provide basic tech support for your blog. (After all, it's your blog - not ours.)

I'd suggest Blogger's help screens.

Posted by Kari Chisholm on January 14, 2006 08:41 AM

Monica says she can't copy the code to add to her blog. I encounter similar or same problem. When i highlight the code on this page of your website (even carefully) it highlights much of the page, rather than just the code. Tried repeatedly, refreshed, same.

Now this doesn't prevent typing what is there, it is brief. But as a convenience, we ought to be able to highlight it, but apparently some of us cannot.

That sounds like the IE6 text-selection bug.

First option - use Firefox. :)

Second option - you can control-click on a paragraph or block of text to select it. Still works, even with the bug.

I'll work on trying to find a workaround.

Posted by Kari Chisholm on January 26, 2006 01:41 AM

OK, workaround: I put it in a little form box. Let me know if that doesn't work. Thanks!

We are trying to put your button our site, which is a blogger site, but can't figure out how to do it. Can you give us some suggestions?

Posted by mcdac on March 2, 2006 05:41 AM

Any hope for an RSS feed for the Virginia aggregator? I'm using Wordpress.com for my blog and no javascript is allowed.
