As we've said before, our focus is ensuring that our readers are exposed to local, political, original commentary.
If you've got less than a month's worth of posts, we have no way to know what kind of blog you're going to have. So, blog for a while, and then come back here to let us know.

What about a "candidate blogs" section for elected officials and challenger blogs, kinda like the "state party" section. Might be a good way to get a roundup of what our Dem electeds are talking about.

John - there's now an elected officials section. No candidates yet, but we'll get there.

Kari, I recently moved from Blogspot to Wordpress before applying. Is there a way to make note of this, especially considering my blog has been around for three months in some form? Thanks.

Technically, my web page is new, but I have a long history of dailykos postings that pretty well define what the blog will look like, and was requested by other local bloggers that I join. Can't that get taken into consideration?

I'm in a situation similar to VirginiaBelle's. I've written at other blogs (Democratic Daily, DemBloggers, Unofficial Kerry Blog, and previously Light Up The Darkness) for over a couple of years, but just moved off on my own. Among other things, this does give me more freedom to cover local issues. One of my posts has even been picked up with large portions copied by a blog on this list.
I think that rather than having strict criteria it would be helpful if submissions could include the opportunity to provide reasons why the formal requirements might not apply.

I tried to register on your blog but the server wouldn't let me. I just wanted to say that I feel we need a place where we can move forward and look to the future. President Bush has 19 more months in office. Whoever is elected has a huge mess to clean up. I'd like to see a site where we can discuss the candidates and their plans for America's future. It seems time.
