It seems like we're constantly making excuses these days - and for that we apologize. We're running WAY behind on reviewing and approving blogs for addition to LeftyBlogs. (Last count - 55 blogs to review, and about 10 a day coming in.)
Not to worry, we haven't run off to a tropical island, or been kidnapped by Jack Abramoff -- rather, we're busy busy busy with our real day jobs over at Mandate Media, building websites for good candidates and campaigns. After all, LeftyBlogs is a labor of love...
That said, we've got some exciting news coming soon with respect to the local progressive blogosphere... hang in there, and stay tuned!
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 2, 2006 02:23 PM
OK, stayed up late and made some progress -- down to 37 blogs in the queue... good stuff, many of the new blogs!

Why was my blog so quickly given the NON- INCLUSION status? Poetry not in the guidelines? I am just curious...

Posted by thepoetryman on March 3, 2006 05:36 PM
Poetryman... because your blog didn't have any local content. LeftyBlogs, after all, is all about the local stuff.
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 3, 2006 08:43 PM
Whoo-hoo! Two nights staying up late... down to 24 blogs to approve...
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 3, 2006 09:31 PM
Late last night, we got all caught up!
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 9, 2006 02:38 AM
I so appreciate this site and service... it has helped me immensely to keep up with my other liberal bloggers in my state. I have been telling everyone I know about it...
THANK YOU!

It would be nice if you actualy notified us one way or the other, currently we are advertising for you and you are not returning the favor, at least not as far as I can tell.
Posted by politica on March 15, 2006 10:03 AM
Politica --- If you're talking about Political Switchboard, I'm not seeing any local content over on that site. We've been aggregating national blogs in advance of a future upgrade - but we're not doing the national stuff at all yet.
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 15, 2006 10:37 AM
Kari, if a blog which was submitted has not met approval, will that blogger be notified?
Posted by tas on March 15, 2006 09:42 PM
No. You'll note that we don't ask for any contact info. This is one of the dumbest things we've ever done -- and have plans to fix it soon.
If you try and resubmit, though, it'll tell ya.
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 15, 2006 10:04 PM
Kari,
so, why wasn't I notified so I could take down the link to your site?
Posted by politica on March 16, 2006 05:18 PM
Politica -- let's try that again:
We don't ask for contact info. Without contact into, we can't notify you.
Yes, that's stupid. Yes, we're going to fix it.
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 16, 2006 10:04 PM
Hi there, I just submitted my blog for approval, but I wanted to make sure you know that while it is a blog, it is the home of my Podcast. Not sure that is allowed.
Thanks, I'll keep your link up on my site no matter what.
Posted by MikeyPod on March 19, 2006 05:09 PM
I have joined a consortium of blogs and need to have my blog removed.
How do I do so...?
Help.
Posted by Mimi Schaeffer on March 19, 2006 05:30 PM
Oh, one more thing, can you let me know when it will be deleted?
Thanks!
Posted by Mimi Schaeffer on March 19, 2006 06:28 PM
Mimi -- there's not much reason to delete a blog... after all, if you don't post, nothing will show up. Every once in a while, I kick the server and it goes thru and finds all the blogs that haven't posted in a few months and gets rid of 'em.
We've had enough folks send me an email asking me to delete their blog -- only to change their mind a few weeks later. The server will figure it out soon enough if you really shut it down. Thanks!
-kari.

Can you tell me why my blog was turned down? Just curious - life goes on . . .
Posted by Ray Smith on March 20, 2006 02:52 PM
hi, i was wondering about the status of my blog that i submitted about a week and a half ago, siege mentality. i realized that i may have submitted 5 or 6 days before i reached the two month mark, but i do have lots of posts up and all of them are about politics. in any event, i hadn't heard back one way or the other.
Posted by droo on March 21, 2006 08:55 AM
I would also like to know why a blog has been turned down, seeing that I've been turned down even though I'm an established blogger who's been at it for longer than the required two months.
Posted by tas on March 21, 2006 08:29 PM
Tas -- Keep in mind that the "two months" criteria is the least important of all the criteria.
The most important is that your blog is focused on local politics. Loaded Mouth isn't.
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 21, 2006 11:48 PM
Kari,
Has my blog been rejected? I'm linked to by most of the Kansas blogs on your list, I write exclusively about local politics, I'm definitely a lefty, and as of this writing I've satisfied the "two months" criteria. Has it not been reviewed yet? thanks,
-drew

We're running behind again. You can always resubmit and find out if you've been rejected, are just waiting, etc.
Posted by Kari Chisholm on March 22, 2006 10:06 PM
Kari, I also submitted the RSS feed for any posts that fall into my blog's "Rhode Island" category. The feed ignores all other posts on my blog unless they are about Rhode Island politics. I should think that qualifies.
Posted by tas on March 23, 2006 08:45 PM
Put in my Upper Mississippi River Basin Blog (UMRBlog) a few days ago and it dawned on me later that our longevity is not obvious. UMRBlog has been up a little over two months but it's previous incarnation "ABCcommittee" was commenting on local politics nad policy in the UMRB for over two years before we switched to something with am RSS feed. No reply required, there just wasn't a box to check to add that info.
Must go now and see if the Emir of the UAE is doing a good job guarding our Port Authority. We wouldn't want anything to happen to the shipping lanes to get soybeans to our Saudi and Chinese friends or to prevent us from sending nuclear mat'l to the nuclear power Indians.
Thanks.

I just submitted my blog for approval (ed fitzgerald's unfutz), but unfortunately clicked on "New Mexico" instead of "New York", where I'm located. Sorry for the error -- can it be corrected?
Posted by Ed on April 5, 2006 12:40 AM
I've submitted my blog for approval today.
Please contact me via my email address. I would like to say a few things which I don't want to put up on the public board.
Thanks.
Posted by inf_tech_guy on April 12, 2006 08:41 AM
sorry. typo. "info_tech_guy"
Posted by info_tech_guy on April 12, 2006 08:45 AM
I'm glad to see inf_tech_guy joining Lefty Blogs. I hope he gets added as soon as possible. Thanks.
Posted by Lowell on April 12, 2006 10:06 AM
I gotta back Lowell up on tech guy also. This guy's all over the place, very active. He's a great addition.

For anyone interested, my Okie Funk blog's new feed is http://okiefunk.com/node/feed. I recently recreated my site under the same url.

We underwent some recent big technical changes on Watchdog Milwaukee and our feed changed.
It is now at:
http://watchdogmilwaukee.com/blog/feed/
Please update the feed link at leftyblogs. BTW, I now feature the leftyblogs banner on the sidebar.

I submitted my blog for approval. It is mostly left-leaning, mostly local, has been in existence since the last Presidential election, and is rather well-received, if I do say so myself. Yet you rejected my blog without explanation. This seems fundamentally unfair, and I ask you to reconsider.
Posted by Bernie on May 11, 2006 06:29 AM
Bernie -- here's why... our system visits your blog once an hour. We're looking for blogs that post regularly.
You had one post in November 2004, three posts on one day in September 2005, one post in April 2006, and three posts so far this month.
I suppose that technically you meet the "been blogging for two months" rule but eight posts in nineteen months isn't enough to determine anything.
In fact, with gaps that large, your blog would soon drop off the system as a closed-down blog.
Posted by Kari Chisholm on May 11, 2006 10:40 AM
Got it. I only recently decided to become more active w/ the blog. Will submit again at the end of June. Thanks for explaining your reasoning.

Just hoping for some word on my little blog...

hi Kari...my hubby (who is our family computer guru) has been trying to get my blog on lefty blogs...it popped up for one day...then went away. I was wondering what happened...i keep asking my hubby and he tells me he'll get to it...but i thought I'd try to find out if I could fix it (LOL) myself.
thanks! :-) t

Tried to register our OK Blue Notes blog with you all last week. We're relatively new, been up since May but already have more than 80 posts. We mix it up using local and state Democratic events with comments from a red state on national news. Hope to hear from you soon.

I submitted my blog last week, but have not seen it listed under the Michigan section. How do I know if I have been rejected?
